Using ChatGPT and Bing AI for Social Media Posts

ChatGPT and BIng AI

Generative AI is being used to generate content for social media services, and we thought we would compare two of the bigger generative AI services for the same tasks to see how they compare.

The first test was to see how well they could come up with a humorous Twitter tweet for a new menu item. Specifically, each was asked: “You are a social media marketer of a large restaurant chain. Please write a light and humorous tweet for Twitter where you describe a new delicious and spicy jalapeno burger.” The results are as follows:

ChatGPT– Warning: Our new jalapeno burger is so spicy, it’ll have you reaching for the milk! But trust us, the deliciousness is worth the burn. πŸ”₯πŸ”#SpiceUpYourLife #JalapenoBusiness

Bing– πŸ”₯πŸ” Spice up your life with our new jalapeno burger! It’s juicy, cheesy and loaded with fresh jalapenos for a kick of flavor. Try it today and see if you can handle the heat! πŸ”₯πŸ”

Both sounded good. ChatGPT did create a hashtag whereas Bing did not create on. I decided to try the ChatGPT “Regenerate” option and the Bing “Generate another tweet” option. Here’s take 2:

ChatGPT– Get ready to spice up your life with our new JalapeΓ±o Burger! πŸ”₯πŸ” It’s so hot, you might need a fire extinguisher to cool off, but trust us, it’s worth it πŸ˜‰ #BurgerBliss #JalapenoJoy #SpiceIsNice #BurgerLove #YumYumJalapenoBum

Bing– πŸŒΆοΈπŸ” Do you like it hot and spicy? Then you’ll love our new jalapeno burger! It’s packed with flavor and crunch, and topped with melted cheese and creamy sauce. Don’t miss this limited-time offer! πŸŒΆοΈπŸ”

Again, they both sounded creative and “written by a human”, but again, Bing failed to provide any hashtags.

Test 2- I asked ChatGPT and Bing to create a Facebook post for a sunglass company that is running a sale. Specifically, “You are a social media marketer for a sunglass company. Please write a Facebook posting approximately 100 words that announce a 50% of all sunglasses sale. Please be creative and cheerful”. The results:

ChatGPT

Again, both ChatGPT and Bing delivered a creative Facebook post that satisfied the requirements of being “creative and cheerful”. Both even included a number of emojis to keep with the tone of the post. The Bing post did come closer to the requested total wordcount, with 101 words, where as ChatGPT used 121 words.

Test 3- Another tweet request. This time the request was asking for a tweet announcing a free 30 day trial of a streaming movie service. The exact request was: “You are a social media marketer for a premium movie channel called MoleMovies. Please write an upbeat and exciting tweet for Twitter that promotes a free 30 day trial of the streaming service.”. The results:

ChatGPT– Lights, camera, action! πŸŽ₯🍿🎬 Experience the thrill of premium movies with a FREE 30-day trial of MoleMovies. Get unlimited access to the latest blockbuster hits, timeless classics, and exclusive content. Don’t miss out on this amazing offer! Bing’s tweet

Both tweets sound good, but the ChatGPT tweet exceeded the Twitter character count of 280 by 60 characters. Bing did not provide any hashtags, although, I did go back later and explicitly ask Bing to include at least one hashtag and it did provide a new tweet with a few hashtags.

Both ChatGPT and Bing provided well-written social media posts for our needs. Both generative AI services can be fine-tuned with more precise request that would keep the limitations of character count and will even provide hashtags. Thumbs up to ChatGPT and Bing for being able to provide social media postings on demand. This article was written by a human.
