The Les Mills Body Combat XR app has introduced a new feature for Meta Quest users called the Challenge Pass, aiming to enhance the workout experience with exclusive, time-limited content. Available to users of the Body Combat XR app on Meta Quest 2, 3, and 3S, the Challenge Pass offers an immersive experience with themed environments, a competitive leaderboard, and interactive social features. This new addition represents an effort to keep the workout routines engaging and fresh while giving fitness enthusiasts a more social and competitive edge in virtual reality.
The first Challenge Pass, which is currently free until November 30, 2024, includes an exclusive workout set in a specially designed “November Challenge Arena.” This arena is tailored to amplify the user’s environment with interactive avatars that surround the player, along with a global leaderboard where participants can track their rankings. Each subsequent Challenge Pass promises new monthly content, allowing users to enter different themed arenas and try new workouts. Beyond workouts, the Challenge Pass will introduce additional cosmetic upgrades and features over time.
Starting in December, the Challenge Pass will be priced at $4.99, with an introductory offer of just $0.99 for the holiday month. For added motivation, users who complete all missions within a Challenge Pass are rewarded with a 40% discount on the next pass, fostering a goal-oriented workout experience. Unlike a subscription model, the Challenge Pass operates as a one-time purchase each month, allowing users flexibility in choosing which months to participate.
Available for Meta Quest headset users who already own the Body Combat XR app, the Challenge Pass content can be accessed directly through the app’s main menu. Within the “Challenge” section, users will find their new workouts and leaderboard standing. While each month’s content is unique, the interactive leaderboard element and social avatars are ongoing features that support a more communal experience, aiming to replicate the feel of group workouts in virtual reality.
Overall, the Challenge Pass introduces an additional layer of engagement and variety to the Body Combat XR app. By continually refreshing its offerings, it adds replayability to the app and is likely to appeal to users looking for a structured yet customizable virtual workout environment.
